On corruption and transparency

After the angkasawan successfully 'lift-off', sadly his brother and Uncle Lim has passed on. As usual, the happy moments only last that long. Prices are hiking (please save, people!), top brass is spewing out baffling statements and La-Nina is hitting east coast this monsoon season.

So... this week's highlights:

1. Link: Dealing with climate change - regulations versus market methods
(Cher Linn)

2. People story: Gang members - our own?
(check out this ad!)

3. Link: IMF - help or hindrance --> debatabase
(Cher Linn)

4. New Delhi - Indian court allows man to divorce HIV positive wife

5. Beijing - restriction of travel to heritage sites before Beijing 2008

6. Price hike - the Idea of Inflation - a good read*
(the LRT montly ticket price have increased RM 10! and it is before petrol prices surge *again!)

7. Freedom of speech - The rights to expression and the harm principle

Ok.. that's all from me now...

on divorcing HIV-positive spouse.

if not mistaken what i read from nst about this one case is: the wife didn't disclose her HIV-+ve status to her husband to her husband -before- their marriage(she's found infected with the virus before tying the knot). eventually the man knew about this as she went for *some tests. With the reason of "unble to enjoy sex with his wife" and hence unable to maintain a good marriage, the husband filed a divorce with the woman.

what i was thinking is: although i know how sex life can influence a marriage significantly, still, is this a good reason to end the marriage? what with all those "for better or worse, in sickness and health, till Death do us part" vow you made on the wedding ceremony then?

the disease is a challenge all right, but somehow marriage can seemed to be very fragile... maybe to some people it only means a paper (fine, paper means the life of a tree and etc). but it actually means more than that.
